“It’s been amazing! I’ve made some lifelong friends here!”
— Nightline Ambassador
Nightline is looking for at least one student at each affiliate university campus to promote Nightline and reach out to more students. This role is perfectly suited for students passionate about spreading mental health awareness in their student community, and working with both Nightline and their own university to promote the service. The volunteers use their own experiences of studying at their university to help our publicity reach their peers, and run events suited to them. These events can be stalls at Stress-busting Days, online campaigns, or simply distributing our materials to departments.
Who can volunteer with us?
To be eligible to volunteer for us you must be 18 or over and a registered student at one of our affiliated institutions, or living with one of our affiliated student accommodation providers. To check whether your university is affiliated with us, please check here. In your application, we will ask for a reference to confirm your a student, as well as a letter of student status if you’re successful.
If your university isn’t yet affiliated with us, and you would like them to be, email both your university and our us and we’ll see if we can start the process!
Ambassadors will receive one evening of training where we discuss Nightline as an organisation, as well as how we approach publicity within the university setting. The training typically takes place over Skype, as this allows students who don’t live in London to also get involved! The Skype Sessions usually take place in November, however the dates for next year are not currently set in stone.
They will be responsible for organising a minimum of two events every term, and attending a termly summit to discuss the term’s events and share ideas with other Ambassadors. Fortnightly drop-in sessions will be available for additional support, but you’re always welcome to bounce ideas off our coordinator and Ambassadors Officer.
Applications for Ambassadors are currently closed, and will reopen in time for the start of the new term on the 10th September. However, if you would like to get involved in time for Fresher’s Fairs, please email us over the summer at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll do are best to get something organised!
